The Way I See It: The Future of Gay Marriage
The recent overturning of Proposition 8 in California set off a firestorm of celebration for gays and lesbians as well as gay rights activists. Ever since the November 2008 ban on gay marriage in the state, gays had been reeling and protesting the ban, and this August, they scored a major victory with Prop 8 being stricken.
The case will go to the Ninth Circuit of Appeals, and from there, the highest court in the land: the US Supreme Court. The Supreme Court hears very few cases presented to it, but since gay marriage is such a hot-button, ongoing issue, I wouldn't be surprised if they do take it on.
