The College Diet
I think it is safe to assume that college students are not the healthiest eaters. As much as some may try, many find it difficult to balance their class load with extracurricular activities and their social life. Given that all these things are true, I think the best solution is a balance between working out and indulging in unhealthy foods every one and a while.
Before I came to college I never really experienced cooking for my self. Most nights one of my parents would prepare a healthy meal that I would eat. I never had to consider whether or not I was eating enough fruits and vegetables because these were things that were important to m y parent’s diet and therefore important to me.

I miss it
How much do I miss dancing...let me count the ways.
No, but really--I miss being a dancer. I never was a professional; not even a little bit close. However, I loved it. Seeing shows like So You Think You Can Dance make me incredibly proud but also jealous. The talent those dancers have is unreal, what I wouldn't give to have it. Here is a video that makes me proud of dancers.

Meal Plans
Whether you purchase a meal plan or not, you need to eat. If you are Greek, you probably have a meal plan through your house. Monday- Friday lunch and dinner is the basic Greek meal plan. Eating in the house is a great way to say you have had at least one conversation with every member. The food is normally healthy and provides well-balanced meals.
The other meal plans on campus offer plenty of dining options. The dining halls change their menu daily, but keep certain stations daily. For example, there is always a sandwich making station, salad bar and pizza. The dining halls offer options for every type of eater from vegetarian to healt nut.
It is when you eat at the fast food chains that you have to watch yourself. Places like Panda Express and Taco Bell help earn the freshman fifteen quickly.
Always try to pick healthy options. We are growing college students and need plenty of brain food.

Cooking for One
As a first time apartment-dweller, my recent trip to the grocery store was drastically different from my previous ones. Instead of picking up milk for my mother or the occasional bottle of shampoo, I had to shop for all of these foreign things like produce and raw meat. It suddenly hit me that if I wanted to have a pasta that was more than just noodles and sauce, I'd have to get a number of vegetables... [More]
