Recent celebrity hair-dos: The good and the ugly

Recent celebrity hair-dos: The good and the ugly

Celebrities often have gorgeous locks that leave me jealous and wondering how I can make mine shiny and bouncy (Jennifer Aniston, cough cough). Yes, having a hairdresser that costs upwards of $500 create miracles in your hair each time you visit them is wonderful commodity to have- unfortunately, one I'm unable to afford. So, sue me, but I do get a little delight when I see celebrity hair disasters. Perhaps disasters is too harsh a word. Let's say hair 'mishaps', but because they can afford the best treatment, seeing them with hair that's been wronged does make me feel a little warm inside.

Let's start with bangs. They can be cute. They can work. But not all types and not on everyone. When Eva Longoria came on the scene in Desperate Housewives, her side bangs became the new 'Rachel' cut and everyone rushed out to get them. Why? Because they were flattering to almost everyone and you didn't have to make the blunt bang committment that could leave you in tears. But some celebrities think they can pull off crazy bangs...and some can.

Those that CANNOT pull of the type of bangs they've attempted to pull off:

Hayden Panettiere: Such a pretty girl - but those bangs have been called 'Soccer Mom Bangs' by the mass media...and for good reason. Look at this picture!! Grow them out!!!

Katy Perry: Another beautiful woman that can pull off so many looks, but these mid-forehead bangs remind me of when I got hold of my mom's scissors when I was 4 and created my own look. For the record, it wasn't a good one. Celebrities wear wigs all of the time. Let's cross our fingers that this is one.

Christina Ricci has always favored bangs on the blunt side, but these in particular are NOT GOOD. She has a very short forehead, and those curtains are simply making it shorter. In this picture, her dress is pretty and her makeup gorgeous (love the red lip), but one can't help but be distracted by those bangs!! These bangs, although still blunt, appear softer than the others.

Just...hair that makes you say, "WHY?"

Rihanna: Now everyone knows how much I adore Rihanna. Her music, her personal style, her persona...the list goes on. I've loved every past transformation her hair has gone through. But...this blonde do' just does her no justice. It washes her out, and that cannot happen!

Sara Paxton is one of those actresses who seems naturally perfect and makes everyone else wonder how she does it. One thing was her long blonde locks that made me wish my hair curled so seamlessly. Well, gone are those days. Not long after her t.v. show The Beautiful Life was canceled, she chopped those locks off! It takes a certain type of face to pull off the pixie cut. Natalie Portman is the perfect example - an oval shaped face, not a circular shaped one. Sara Paxton can work this look, but not near as well as the former.

Ginnifer Goodwin has been cutting her hair shorter and shorter in long periods. First there were her flowing strands that looked perfect. Then she went for a short, mid-length bob which was even better than her longer hair, if you ask my opinion, because it brought out her eyes. And maybe that's where she got the idea that shorter=even better than before. But, like I mentioned above, when you have a round face, shorter styles just make the face look wide. So, this look makes me wish that hair grew 10 inches a month so that we can have the straight bob once more.
