I go to the coolest school!
Let me tell you about college basketball...I'm just kidding, I don't really know a whole lot, though I do know that my school has an extremely, ridiculously good basketball team, with some standout players. While my boyfriend will be so embarassed when (or if) he reads this article with its lack of basketball knowledge and expertise, I will do my best to express the feeling of being on campus at this time.
Reason 1: Lebron James was at the UK-Vanderbilt game.
WOW! I mean I know that I am not exactly the world's biggest wildcat fan, and I am sure some will think I am a fair-weather fan for even getting excited right now, but that is pretty damn cool. I mean, there I am, cleaning the cold station at work, and I look up at the game to see Lebron James sitting in the front row with a blue and gray sweater on. Apparently Coach Cal and Lebron are BFFs, which is super cute I think. Plus I think he is impressed with John Wall, as is everyone.
Reason 2: Ashley Judd and the Wildcat were in a celeb gossip magazine.
Now this one is stupid for anyone but me, but my roommate and I thought it was pretty cool! The wildcat was carrying Ashley Judd (a well known UK alum) around at a game with a byline about how awesome the team is and how proud she is to be a UK fan. SO neat!
Reason 3: We had a record number of NBA scouts and GMs at the game the other day.
John Wall brings them in. Not to mention the huge man inside, Demarcus Cousins. When one of the GMs was asked why he is at a UK game, he said "Well bank robbers go where the money is, right?" What a lovely, descriptive, comparison.
Reason 5: Barack Obama called to wish them good game.
Granted, they did lose, haha, but nevertheless, that is pretty freaking cool if you ask me. Having the President of the free world call to wish your school (in Kentucky, a place that is extremely misunderstood by non-Kentuckians I believe) good luck is a huge honor. I mean, he isn't busy or anything (cough*healthcare*cough).
Reason 4: I have class with all of them, haha.
That's pretty irrelevant, but I think it's cool. You know you go to UK when on the first day of class you look around and Demarcus Cousins, John Wall, Darius Miller, Eric Bledsoe, & Daniel Orton walk in and everyone snatches their phone and texts away. Either that, or they stare glassy-eyed at them with their mouths agape. It's pretty hilarious to see the effect that several abnormally tall men have on a campus. And to think that only in a few months, John Wall and Demarcus Cousins will be making millions of dollars playing in the NBA....crazy!
So I am proud to be a wildcat, and it is pretty cool to take class with the basketball team. Plus, ya know, they are pretty good. So I am excited to see what happens the rest of the season, and C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!!!
