Rock Chalk Revue : A huge Greek philanthropy and musical
There are over 26 Greek chapters at the University of Kansas, each with their own philanthropies that they raise money for at various times during the school year. However, once a year, the Greek community helps to raise thousands of dollars for the United Way by participating in and watching Rock Chalk Revue, a student-organized set of 5 musicals that are created and written by students. Months of every day practices all go toward the ultimate goal of winning awards at the ending ceremony.
With the musicals showing for 3 days, and 4,000 people that bought tickets at $25 a pop, that is quite a bit of revenue that is going to the United Way. It is such a great feeling to have students - both Greek and non-Greek to interact with the community in such a way that thousands of dollars are raised for a good cause.
