The Joy of Spreading the Wealth

Hello Greeks! Today for my Greek Life column I just wanted to share with you the money that was raised in the two events that I have harped so much about this semester.

For Greek Sing, Chi Omega helped Make A Wish to raise around........$109,000!!! Wow! That is truly amazing. Last year we raised $100,000, so anything above that was just icing on the cake. I am so proud of all those who took the time to really get out there to fundraise, the Greek Sing chairs for working so hard to ensure everything was going smoothly, and to all the participants who logged the man hours practicing the routines that make Greek Sing such an entertaining thing to watch. Great job, everyone!

As for Dance Blue, the 600+ dancers raised over $636,000 for pediatric oncology research for the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital!! WOWZA! I know that $100,000 is a lot of money, but $636,000 is crazy! The kids and their families are so deserving of this money, and you would have to be cold hearted to not get goosebumps when you hear the stories of these poor sick kids. I went to the event for my amazing friend who was dancing (24 hours of no sitting or sleeping) and it was a sight to behold. Every hour they perform a line dance that they learn at the beginning, and each hour has a different theme, to break up the monotony and keep their morale up. They also have people who work the event who are also dancing who are the "morale boosters", keeping the energy up and their spirits high. It was so cool to see 600+ students giving up their weekend for an amazing cause.

Congrats to both events for raising so much money for kids! Some money for granting wishes, the rest for saving lives, but all of it to benefit families and kids in need. Keep it up greeks, I am so proud of you!
