More About Me
Hi all! I'm a junior Tri Delta at the University of Georgia. My major is public relations and art history is my minor. I really enjoy the outdoors, especially eating outside whether it's on a back deck at someone's house or on a restaurant patio. I'm a big movie watcher (but only at night) - I think watching TV during the day is a waste of time, and I personally would rather be running outside or reading a great book on a lawn chair. I love communicating with people, studying foreign cultures, and listening to new music. However, let's not forget the oldies, which will never go out of style. I also love having dinner parties, painting and drawing, and reading New York Times articles. If you have any questions regarding anything, I'd be happy to answer them!Charley Howard

Getting Into the Rhythm
The second week of school has passed! When my friend asked me if I was getting back into the swing of things, I told her that I got into the swing of things on the second day. The truth is that once you're a senior, class is almost old hat. You know not to get your textbooks at the campus store and instead order them half off on Amazon. You know which teachers will allow you to get up mid class... [More]

Truly Inspirational
I try and get at least a few minutes in watching "The Today Show" every morning. The talk show hosts and segments are just terrific, and it keeps me more up-to-date about top news stories, new film releases and fun facts.
This morning, I caught an inspirational segment with the most recent "Biggest Loser" winner, Danny Cahill. Cahill, 40, was dubbed the winner on Tuesday night's finale. He lost a record-setting 239 pounds. Wow, that's two people!
Oh the show, Cahill talked about his children and wife being his inspiration to get healthy. And in just six months, he did the near impossible. With a healthy body and a smile stuck to his face, Cahill is ready to begin a new life.

Bring Out the Sweat Pants!
It's that time again. No, not Christmas. I'm talking about that time when the library is full, the Jittery Joe's coffee shop down the street is packed and all the girls on campus seem to have forgotten to wear makeup and blow dry their hair.
Yes, it's finals time.
Finals come twice a year, and trust me, we don't miss them once they're gone. In fact, we try and avoid even the mentioning of the word. Other words and phrases related to finals that follow with a shriek include (but are not limited to): cumulative, 40% of your grade, impossible and three hours long.
Well, with only three (noncumulative) final exams this year, I have it much easier than most. One of my friends has five exams total, three being cumulative. That's rough.
As you begin the dreaded event known as final exam studying, I hope you maintain a positive attitude and remind yourself that it will soon be over.
Good luck!

The Blind Side - A Masterful Performance
Sandra Bullock's performance in "The Blind Side" is truly noteworthy. After years of romantic comedies like "Ms. Congeniality," "Two Weeks Notice," and her most recent "The Proposal," she shares a more heartfelt, realistic, dramatic role that is sure to bring tears.
From the clumsy, nerdy, energetic side seen in most of her films, Bullock shows us a maternal side with southern charm and sass that we have not met before.
Not only is her acting stellar in this film, but the movie itself is brilliant. Based on a true story, we're shown the helpless situation of an innocent boy caught in unfortunate circumstances, the struggles of a mother who wants to do what's right and the support of a husband who's a bystander in it all.

Formal - AKA College Prom
Tri-Delta is one of the few sororities at UGA that has formal in the fall. It was last night, and it was wonderful! Formal is the one time we get to dress up from head to toe in silky strapless dresses, jewels and difficult to wear stilettos and spend entirely way too much money at a super elegant restaurant for dinner (where we pay for the guys too)!
It all begins three weeks before the actual event when date prospects are evaluated. Who to take? My best guy friend who's already been to a dozen of these functions with me? That guy (who I've never talked to) in biology? Maybe just a blind date would be best.
Once the date has been decided on and the guy has been asked, the dress hunt starts. After several fancy downtown stores and hours of shopping, the most perfect (and expensive) dress is purchased.
